Ruijiao Dong was born and raised in Mianyang, Sichuan Province of China. Ruijiao Dong completed his BSc degree in Materials Science at Wuhan Textile University in 2006 and his MSc degree in Polymer Chemistry at Donghua University in 2009. Then, he joined Prof. Xinyuan Zhu’s group in the Department of Chemistry at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and obtained his PhD degree in 2014. From 2015 to 2020, he has been a Research Associate in Andrew Livingston’s group at Imperial College London. He is now an Associate Professor in Shanghai Center for Systems Biomedicine at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His current research interests focus on the design, synthesis and site-selective functionalization of precision polymers, sequence-controlled polymers, and multidimensional nanoscale biomaterials, as well as their applications in diagnosis and treatment of cancer, immunotherapy, and gene therapy, etc.
He is now a member of American Chemistry Society (ACS), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and Chinese Chemical Society (CCS), as well as an ambassador of Society of Chemical Industry (SCI). Very recently, he has been appointed as an Early-career editorial board for Environmental Science & Ecotechnology (ESE), a Guest editor for Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering (Special Issue on Materials, Energy and Environment, 2021), a Guest editor for Molecules, and a Guest editor for Frontiers in Chemistry. Recent awards include National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars (Overseas) (2021), Shanghai High-Level Overseas Talents Introduction Program (2020), Sir William Wakeham Award at Imperial College London (2019), Outstanding Graduate at SJTU (2014), Academic Youth Award for Doctoral Candidate (Ministry of Education of China, 2012), National Scholarship for Excellent Doctoral Student (Ministry of Education of China, 2012), etc.
