Baiyang Chen was born and raised in Taixing city, Jiangsu. His undergraduate major is chemistry, which is an international cooperation programe. He spent three years at Nanjing Tech University and another year at the University of Sheffield. Baiyang then attended Imperial College London to complete his master degree in Nanomaterials, where his MRes focused on Probing charge carrier dynamics in lead-free perovskite solar cells via laser-based optical spectroscopy. Upon graduating in Oct 2021, he joined the Ruijiao Dong Group in Nov 2021. Outside of lab, Baiyang likes to read, play basketball and enjoy delicious food.

Fun facts

l Baiyang likes to play basketball, but it should be noted that basketball is his hobby, not his specialty.

l His favourite animal is a dog because they're so energetic and friendly.

l Although Baiyang likes to exercise, his first choice for weekends is to sleep during the daytime.
